This year’s Clergy Retreat will be held in Lubbock at St. Luke’s Southwest, beginning October 14 at 1:30 pm and concluding at noon on October 16. This gathering will feature popular speaker and author, Rev. Michael Beck, as well as worship, testimonies, and generous amounts of free time to connect with friends or enjoy activities in town.
Our focus this year is “Steeple to the Street: Cultivating Pioneering Congregation.” We all know the challenge of doing effective ministry in the midst of institutional uncertainty and changing cultural values. And yet, our call remains the same: to make disciples of Jesus for the transformation of the world.
Each congregation, regardless of size or budget, has the opportunity to connect with our communities in meaningful ways. Our guest speaker will provide real-world examples of churches that have broken through cultural barriers to love their community and share Jesus. One of the primary principles of the Fresh Expressions movement is that each congregation discerns how God is calling them to engage their community. This is not a cookie-cutter approach, but rather Spirit-led ministry that provides open doors for new people to encounter Christ.
Michael Beck’s new book, “Deep Roots, Wild Branches” is included with your registration of $50. Lunch on Tuesday will be provided, and well as refreshments throughout the event. Please contact Blossom Matthews at 806.440.3877 if you have questions or need assistance with registration.
